DARKROOM MAGAZINE http://www.darkroom-magazine.it/ita/109/Recensione.php?r=250HERE'S THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION Translated by A.T.Coming
straight from Florida, This one-man band (the leader is a certain JJ)
is dedicated to a sort of hybrid sound of EBM of harsh heritage
(especially the distorted vocals) and a certain electro-industrial
sound of the 90s. To understand, one only needs to listen to the
opener, "Between the Hammer and Anvil", a spectral song of an
apocalyptic mood bringing forth various influences reminiscent of
Skinny Puppy, Wumpscut, Mentallo & the Fixes (those of days past)
and the first Dismantled, relating to the sicker Velvet Acid Christ.
The sound of the title-track is more linear but nevertheless nervous,
as if listening to the more far-out products of Suicide Commando, while
enjoying something more obscure like having to attend "The Witching
Hour (2007 Remix)", a semi-instrumental track that stresses a certain
dedication to the electronics of the past decade. Closing the circle is
"Fully Baked", an episode committed to some kind of experimentation and
permeated by a strong sense of anguish, as well as a fifth song not
fitting the norm, hopelessly unhealthy and cerebral. This work by
Projekt Nemesis is truly dark and contaminated by a sound too often
mistreated nowadays (in times of "straight cash" this is reality …),
and therefore is crediting a project which is not only intriguing but
also courageous and rich in significant nuances. The full-length debut
"Defcon 1" is planned to launch at the end of this year and we wish
that JJ will be able to quickly follow in the footsteps of those who
have preceded him… a chance he deserves in view of the good quality of
his product. Go on like this!
